Shunt Vaults

As the first large scale collaboration of artists, Sophie Lewis and Emma Critchley, The Fear of Falling was first exhibited at Shunt Vaults, a stunning venue empathetic with the subject matter of the work. Together with a sound installation specifically designed for the show, the portraits formed a ponderous and enchanting journey through the dark, cavernous space, offering time to stop and reflect. Renowned for cutting edge performance, the exhibition is the first of it’s kind for the Vaults and, as part of the Thames Festival, the artists held a talk for festival visitors and the general public.

The Fear of Falling was first exhibited at Shunt Vaults in September 2008.
